CLAUDE ACKERMAN DIES UNEXPECTEDLY

Claude E. Ackerman, Belmont, a life-long resident of Belmont, died unexpectedly at Scio Friday, Feb. 3, 1961. A practicing attorney, he also served as Police Justice and formerly held the position of County Attorney.

Born in Belmont, Oct. 5, 1900, Atty Ackerman was the son of the late New York State Supreme Court Justice Bernard B. Ackerman and the former Irene Tefft.

The well-known attorney was twice married. His first wife, Dorothy Van Campen died several years ago. He second, the former Genevieve Stanton, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Bernard T. Ackerman and a daughter, Carrol Ann Ackerman, both of Belmont; a grandson; and a brother, Herbert E. Ackerman of Belmont.

Atty. Ackerman was a member of Belmont Lodge F&A.M. 474 and the St. Phillips Episcopal Church.

Prayer services were conducted at Olmstead Funeral Chapel in Belmont Monday followed by funeral services at St. Phillips Church with the Rev. David C. Stanley officiating. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery.
