David Van Bramer Ackerman, 95, died March 24,
2004, at John Knox Village Care Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. David was born June 14, 1908, in Kansas City, MO, to Marion Ellen Delany Ackerman and Clarence David Ackerman. He grew up in the Kansas City area and attended high school and KC Community College. During the World War II years, he
worked as a cost accountant at Gustin-Bacon Mfg. Co. In 1944, he moved to Independence and worked for Certanteed Products as a system and procedure
analyst, and retired in 1973. He later worked at Unity School of Christianity and while there designed the Filmore Memorial Garden, and retired in 1983. David was a longtime member of Lee's Summit Christian Church. He is survived by his wife Mary, of Lee's Summit; son John Ackerman and wife Marlia Banning, Kent, OH; two daughters, Jane Ackerman, Tulsa, OK, and Judy Wulf and granddaughter Melinda Wulf, both of Sacramento, CA.
