Edwin F. Acken II, of Summerfield, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven:" Eccl:3-1
The summer of your life was your birth on Jan. 23, 1925, to the the late Ancil D. and Bertha Beatrice (Rice) Acken. Your childhood and then February 1943.
Serving your country during World War II as an EM2, you were discharged in April 1946, went back and graduated from high school. Went to college, got married, and became a father with that marriage, then you had another daughter.
Now, we are to the spring of your life. You had many accomplishments during these years. You bought your first home, worked as a draftsman at the General Electric Co., divorced and remarried, and acquired three stepsons.
In the fall of your life, you became a grandfather, retired, moved to Florida, became a great-grandfather, and started to slow your pace working toward the winter of your life.
With the winter of life, you began to have health problems, but still managed to make trips up north to see your loved ones, and travel some.
All those seasons of your life, which spanned 81 years, ended on Nov. 15, 2006, in Ocala, Fla.
On Nov. 29, 2006, there was a memorial service for you in Summerfield, Fla., with family and friends that could not make the trip north.
On Dec. 8, 2006, you were laid in your final resting place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
You will be with us always because you will be the wind that sweeps across our faces, you'll be water that nourishes every living thing, you'll be the warm sun that keeps our hearts and souls warm, the glint on winter's snow, and the stars that watch over us at night.
Your journey through life is done and your reward is to rest in peace.
It is with our loving you that we now say goodbye and wait to meet you on that beautiful shore in the by and by.
Thanks for a lifetime of memories that we can share with those that follow.
With gratitude and thanks for loving me enough to make me your daughter.
Daughter, Carol (Charles) DeMars Sr.; grandson, Charles Jr. and great-grandchildren Chrystal, Sabrina and Samantha; granddaughter, Carisa (DeMars) Williams; great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Mikenzie and Michael; nephew, Edwin (Cathy) Robbins; and many friends you made over the years.
