Large Attendance At Ackard Funeral

The funeral of Mrs. David E. Ackard, who died at her residence on south Water street Saturday afternoon, took place this (Monday) afternoon and was very largely attended. The services were held at the Union Baptist church, North Buffalo township, and were conducted by Rev. L. F. Taylor, of the First Baptist church, of which the deceased was a faithful member.

A month or so ago Mrs. Ackard was taken ill with typhoid fever and her condition was regarded as serious from almost the very first. Everything that willing hands could do was done to aid in the battle but without avail. At times the patient seemed to rally, renewing hopes for her recovery and while the news of her demise was not entirely unexpected by the friends of the family yet it came somewhat as a shock and caused much sorrow.

Mrs. Ackard was aged 28 years. Her maiden name was Bertha Claypool and her husband is the well known master mechanic of the Kittanning Iron and Steel Company. In addition to her husband she is survived by the following: Two sons, Elmer and Gilbert Ackard; four sisters, Mrs. Ross Bowser, of North Buffalo township, Armstrong county; Mrs. W. H. Bowser, of Kittanning; Mrs. Ford Gould, of West Kittanning, and Mrs. Perry Green, of North Buffalo; Three brothers, Bert C. Claypool, of North Buffalo; Gilbert Y. Claypool, of Slate Lick, and Edward M. Claypool, of North Buffalo.

The deceased was a most estimable woman and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends.
