Gertrude was born September 24, 1923 in Mosinee, Wisconsin to John and Helen Douville.
Gertrude was an avid church member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, school and president of the Altar Society. She also volunteered at St. Mary's hospital for years.
Ms. Abshire is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, John R. Abshire; three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, John Abshire; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
