Herman was born on a farm in Bondin Township to Frank & Emma Bergman Abramson. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Wirock, MN. On June 25, 1938 he and Helen Wyman were married in Winona, MN. Following their marriage they farmed in the Avoca and Slayton area until 1970 when they retired and moved to Worthington, MN. Herman worked for a funeral home in Worthington for two years after retirement. Herman entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda on May 11, 1999 where he lived until his death. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington and a former member of the Swedish Lutheran Church in Avoca and Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Herman was a charter member of the Golden K Kiwanis in Worthington. He also was a member of the A.F.A.M. Masonic Lodge. Herman was active on the Farm Bureau, Murray County Co-op Oil and church boards over the years. He also was on the Avoca Builders Corp., a group of farmers who set out to rebuild Avoca after the fire. Herman enjoyed horseback riding with the Wirock Saddle Club, traveling, and listening to music.
Herman & Helen were the parents of Janet Hintermeister and Jean Pelikan.
Herman's siblings include Alfred, Edna, Carl, Arthur, Helen, Anne, Mabel, Minnie, and Lillian.
