Hyman W. Abrams, 81, of 24 Williamsburg Drive, Springfield, the retired owner of the former H & L Home Equipment Co., died on Monday in the Mercy Hospital.

He retired in 1978.

A lifelong resident of Springfield, he was a member of the Kesser Israel Synagogue and the Silver Foxes and Belles at the Jewish Community Center. He had also been a member of the Young Men's Hebrew Association baseball team.

(The YMHA later became the Jewish Community Center).

He leaves his wife, the former Ida Herman; a son, Arthur of Longmeadow; a daughter, Beverly Adelson of New Rochelle, N.Y.; three sisters, Ruth Pezzner and Ida Katz of Springfield, and Sally Kamins of Longmeadow; three grandchildren.

The funeral will be on Wednesday at noon at Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel, with burial in the Kesser Israel Cemetery .

Memorial week will be at the 887 Frank Smith Road, Longmeadow, home of his son, Arthur. Memorial contributions may be made to the synagogue.
