GLINES SERVICES CONDUCTED FOR FORMER RESIDENT
GLINES--Funeral services for Franklin Abplanalp, 82, former resident of Glines Ward were held in the Glines Ward LDS Chapel. Monday at noon under the direction of Bishop Ernest M. Johnson.
Mr. Abplanalp died in Provo last Thursday June 3, of causes incident to age.
Invocation was offered by Raymond Gardiner. Benediction was pronounced b A. Don Batty. Speakers were Bishop John B. Eaton and President Archie Johnson.
A ward chorus consisting of Mrs. Don Batty, Mrs. Lee Murray, Mrs. Myton Perry, Mrs. Lyle Remington, Cecil Billings and Norman Fletcher sang "What Voice Salutes the Startled Ear" and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River" The ladies of the group sang "In the Garden". Mrs. Harold Cook was accompanist.
Pallbearers were Henry and Leland Workman, John and Edward Watkins, Roy Simper and Eugene Abplanalp.
Burial was in the Maeser Faiview Cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Henry J. Slaugh.
Mr. Abplanalp was born October 23, 1872, at Midway, Wasatch County, a son of Peter and Margaret Eggler Abplanalp. While he was a boy the family moved to Ashley Valley and settled in Glines Ward, During his life here he also lived in Maeser and Vernal First Ward. He made his livelihood as a farmer. He was a member of the LDS Church and was a devout worker in its organizations. He married Mary Ann Howard at Vernal on June 27, 1894. To them were born ten children, two of which have preceded him in death, Edward Franklin and Victor. His wife died April 8, 1920.
Mr. Abplanalp's father Peter was the second bishop of Glines Ward.
Surviving Mr. Abplanalp are the following sons and daughters: Elwin Abplanalp, Vernal; George and James Abplanalp, Bingham; Walter Abplanalp, Lark, Utah; Casper Abplanalp, Los Angeles; Doris Swain, Renton, Washington and Kate Slaugh and Esther Abplanalp, Salt Lake City.
Relatives and friends here from outside points were Mr.a nd Mrs. Henry Slaugh and Esther Abplanalp, Salt Lake City; George and Mr. and Mrs. James Abplanalp, Bingham; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Abplanalp, of Lark; Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Swain, Renton, Washington; Mr. and Mrs. William Abplanalp and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Abplanalp and Mr. and Mrs. Alma Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Laris, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Alexander, Mrs. Nancy Burton, Mrs. Margaret Fenn and Mrs. Elizabeth Gangel, Roosevelt; Mrs. Harry Andreason, Magna and Mrs Jack Unison, Pleasant Grove.

Frank Abplanalp is the son of Margartha Eggler and Peter Abplanalp. He married Mary Ann Howard.
After fishing, he met his death. Frank Abplanalp and his partner had been fishing in the Red Pine Gorge. Toward the end of the day, they began the uphill climb along the sheep trail to their camp at Red Pine Setting. Part way up the hill, Mr. Abplanalp's heart gave out and he died on the spot.
