ABNEY, Shirley June -age 77 of Grand Blanc, MI passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 2PM-8PM at Brown Funeral Home 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11AM with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Chaplain Hank Messing officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Shirley was born July 8, 1937 in Paragould, AR to the late Henry and Beatrice (Huckabay) Batten. She married Thomas Abney on March 1, 1955 in Flint, MI. She spent her life devoted to taking care of her family and she loved to cook. Surviving are her children; Kathy (Ron) Breckenridge, Betty (James) Davis, Thomas (Gerri) Abney Jr., David (Tracy) Abney, and Kim (Jeff) McKenzie, grandchildren; Kristina, Korky, Stephanie, Haley, Ashleigh, Lauren, Nickolas, Nikki, Kieffer, Brittany, Emily, and Julian, great-grandchildren, Kain, Kaitlyn, Ebonie, and Erica, brother; Charles Batten, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Beatrice Batten, husband; Thomas Abney, daughter; Rebecca Abney, granddaughter; Alexis, brothers; J.W. and Gene, and sisters; Hazel, Wanda, and Mary.
