Dorothy Abner, a native of Baldwin County, AL, and a resident of Mobile, passed this life on Friday, December 7, 2007. She was a member of St. James Major Catholic Church, a retired LPN, and she was one of three who initiated S. D. Bishop to start the nursing program. She was preceded in death by her husband; Frank Abner, two brothers; Mevin Marzette and Rosco Marzette. She is survived by two sons; Howard S. (Viola) Moss, Foley, AL, and Broward J. Moss, Mobile, AL, four sisters; Beatrice Johnson, Memphis, TN, Beatrice Lawrence Fairhope, AL, Doriska (Eugene) Alexander, Los Angeles, CA, and Reto (Marvin) Dickey, Denver, CO, three brothers; Theodore Marzette, Memphis, TN, Johnnie Kirkman, Washington, D.C., and Frank (Grace) Marzette, Las Vegas, NV, five grandchildren; Howard Moss, Jr., Maurice Moss, Monika Moss, Juma A. Moss, and Nigel Moss, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one devoted sister-in-law; Almedia Abner, a host of nieces, one devoted; Alice Hardin, Daphne, AL, nephews, one devoted; Roscoe Marzette, Saraland, AL, number of cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Major Catholic Church, 714 College St., Prichard, AL. The very Rev. Robert M. Kearns, SSJ., pastor. Interment will follow in Twin Beech Cemetery, Fairhope, AL. Arrangements by Johnson-Allen Mortuary,600 Chestnut Street, Mobile, AL.
