Stella Lydia Abeyta Bustos died December 16, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She went as she lived, beautifully, graciously and peacefully. Stella was born in Manassa, Colorado on April 10, 1910. Her parents were Annie Femenina Salazar and Serafin Abeyta. Stella is survived by her sons and daughter: Orlando A. Rivera and his wife Irene, Robert Grieg Bustos (Cristina) and Delores Burbidge (Jeffrey). She is the grandmother of Annie Burbidge, Patricia Rivera-Lucero (Patrick), George Ben Rivera (Heidi), Selena Berg (Justin), and her great-grandchildren: Cecily, Camille and Arturo. She is also survived by her brother, Amos S. Abeyta and her sister, Clara Duffin. She leaves behind her best friend, Harold Horrocks. She truly loved and appreciated her children and grandchildren and rejoiced in their achievements. Stella was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Jeanne Bustos; a sister, Celina Abeyta Garcia; a brother, Enos J. Abeyta and a grandson, Arturo Rivera. Stella had many accomplishments. She was awarded the title, Miss Colorado of 1927. She was renowned for her craftsmanship, which she always gave to others, as she knitted beautiful sweaters, afghans, and blankets. She embroidered exquisite doilies, did needlepoint and made quilts. She produced many pieces of ceramics. Stella was an excellent cook and specialized in New Mexican food, such as: biscochitos, chili colorado, bunelos, etc. Stella is greatly missed by her family, but we are all happy that after a long and productive life, with love for everyone, that she has been called home by Heavenly Father and is free from the pain and suffering of this life and is enjoying the presence of those loved ones that have gone before. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 20 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive; where friends and family may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 10:45-11:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
