Obituary

Margaret Creel Abernathy, beloved by all who knew her, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2013 following surgery and respiratory complications.

Born on March 11, 1919, Margaret spent her life living in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Roswell and finally Brookhaven. After graduating from high school and business college, she worked for the highway department before marrying Stephen Abernathy. After raising a family, she returned to work for FMC Corp. and retired after 20 years. A long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Margaret was blessed with friends around the globe…of all ages, races, and nationalities. She had a gift for encouraging others, especially those who needed lifting up. In her later years, both friends and neighbors alike showed her God's love by encouraging and assisting her. Margaret read the newspaper daily and followed current events, retaining a sharp mind and keen wit. She loved beautiful flowers, song birds, and sunshine. Most of all, she loved the Lord, her family, friends and neighbors.

Her son Steve preceded her in death. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Dave) Millican, grandchildren Kristi (Mark) Stackow, Brad Abernathy, Lee (Summer) Millican, Beth (Clay) Trammell, Michael Millican, and great-grandchildren Tyler, Cayden, Kate, Maddy, Easton and Chap, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice in her memory.
