A Guide Rock man, Donald Abernathy, 81, died Monday in Mary Lanning Hospital.
The funeral will be today (Thursday) at 10 a.m., in the United Methodist Church, Guide Rock, with the Rev. Shirley Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Guide Rock Cemetery.
Abernathy was born Oct. 5, 1905, in Coffeyville, Kan., where he grew up and attended school. In 1924, he moved to Glenrock, Wyo., and worked in the oil fields.
He married Hazel Heise Oct. 22, 1957, in Laverne, Mich. They moved to Guide Rock in 1959 where he owned the operated Don Abernathy Kennels.
He was a member of the National Greyhound Association, Florida Greyhound Association and the Moose Lodge in Casper, Wyo.
Survivors are his wife, Hazel; daughter, Mrs. John Jennings (Pat), Guide Rock; two sons, Donald T. of Lander, Wyo., and Jim C., Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
