Christine Lea Abernathey was born July 28, 1974 in Smithville, Missouri. The daughter of Gary and Linda (Harper) Abernathey, she was the youngest of two children born of this marriage. Christine was raised in the Riverside, Missouri area and graduated in 1992 from Park Hill High School. On November 8, 1995 she was married to Thomas Nielson and to this union one child, Chandler Kay Nielson, was born October 4, 1996. This union ended in divorce and on September 12, 2007 Christine was married to David Stover. This marriage was not meant to be and it ended in a separation in 2009. Christine lost her grandfathers at a very early age, so she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandmothers. Family gatherings were always occasions she cherished, to be with cousins and other family members. She looked forward to spending the holidays with her immediate family where one could hear the infectious sound of her laughter ringing through the air. Now an empty spot remains where she will be sorely missed at these special occasions. At the early age of 13 weeks, Christine was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis and surgery was required to correct the conditions. She was afflicted with asthma and had severe bouts with the condition, a lot of the times requiring hospitalization. Christine worked at various jobs and was a hard worker, however, she never really found her niche in life. She faced many hardships and challenges in her later life. During this time, the one sole joy that was uppermost in her mind was her daughter, Chandler. Christine's eyes would shine with delight when talking of her daughter and the many accomplishments Chandler achieved. She would attend and sit admiringly while Chandler played in the school band, ceaming with delight as she watched her perform. When referring to her daughter, she so often spoke lovingly saying, "Isn't she smart!" or "Isn't she beautiful." Christine was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bill and Dorothy Abernathey and maternal grandparents, Herschel and Eathel Harper. Life's path can be winding and sometimes rough and rocky. Christine's came to an end on the evening of October 2, 2011 when our Lord took her hand and she departed this earthly life to live with her family in Heaven. She will be sadly missed by those she has left behind who all remember her with love. Those surviving are her daughter, Chandler Kay Nielson of Kansas City, Missouri; her mother and step-father, Linda Harper and Frank Janeczko of Quincy, Missouri; her father and step-mother, Gary and Barbara Abernathey, of Springfield, Missouri; her brother, William *Billy" Abernathey of Kansas City, Missouri; nieces Samantha and Shayla Abernathey and nephew, Skyler Abernathey of Kansas City, Missouri; step-brother, Scott Janeczko and wife, Christy and daughter, Catie of Kansas City, Missouri' step-sisters, Amy Guyett and husband, Mike and daughters, Kaylee, Megan and Allie Stanfill of Blue Springs, Missouri; Jamie Collins and husband Josh and son Jack of Kansas City, Missouri. Also surviving are a hosts of aunts, uncles and cousins.
