Hartselle
Funeral service for Alvin L. Abercrombie, 87, of Hartselle will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Abercrombie, who died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Hartselle Medical Center, was born January 31, 1924, in Marion County to Clyde T. Abercrombie and Frances Elizabeth Harris Abercrombie. He was a member of the Hartselle First United Methodist Church and was an automobile dealer since 1956. He was a former member of the Hartselle Kiwanis Club, a former Hartselle City Councilman, a former GMC Truck dealer, a former Allis Chalmers Tractor dealer and had been in radio broadcasting from 1985 to the present. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Hodges and a brother, Calvin Abercrombie.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Abercrombie; two sons, James Ronald Abercrombie and wife, Pam, of Hartselle, and Keith Abercrombie and wife, Teresa, of Massey; one daughter, Anne Ennis and husband, Boyd, of Vestavia Hills; one sister, Minnie Farmer of Southgate, Mich.; two grandchildren, Dr. Boyd Ennis Jr. and wife, Dr. Joanne Rossman, of Birmingham and Jenifer Abercrombie of Hartselle.
