Lance D. Abelsen, 66, passed away May 17, 2010, surrounded by his family. Lance was born August 3, 1943, in Seattle, WA to Al and Jane Abelsen. He grew up and went to school in Edmonds, WA. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sally, 48 years ago. They were just 16 and 17 when they met and had been together ever since. Lance had a 30-year career in banking, then made a change to self-employment when he and Sally purchased Wenatchee Fence Inc. 16 years ago. He was a devoted family man, who was very proud of his children and his three grandchildren, Ursula, Aaron and Nora of Stehekin. Lance loved the outdoors and enjoyed many interests and hobbies, including riding his motorcycle, photography, fly fishing, reading and shooting. He was a member of the Wenatchee Rifle and Revolver Club. Lance was a member of the Apple Valley Kiwanis Club for the past 16 years, and had belonged to several service organizations throughout his career.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; and his children, Tracy (Mark) Hollingshead of Kemmerer, WY and Lance (Renee Hudak) Abelsen Jr. of Stehekin, WA; and a brother, Ron (Jeannie) Abelsen of Kent, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 1420-A Walnut Street, Wenatchee, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.
