Brenda Abell, 17, Gettysburg R2, died at the York Hospital this morning at 12:10 from severe head injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Fairfield early Thursday morning in which two of her companions were killed instantly.
The only survivor of the accident, Sarah Jean Burke, 21, Biglerville R1, today was reported by hospital officials to be somewhat improved and has been removed from the intensive care unit.
....She was a daughter of James W Abell Jr., 233 N Washington St., and Delores Richardson Abell, Farifield. She attended Gettysburg High School and resided with her maternal grandparents, Melvin and Esther Richardson, at 147 W Middle St. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Two Tavers.
She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Sharon Y Keefer, Gettysburg; her paternal grandmother, Marie S Arentz Abell, Gettysburg, and a nephew. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday at 11:00 at the Monahan Funeral Home with her pastor, the Rev. Alfred Shenk, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
