Ben Luckett Abell, 83, Louisville, died at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his residence. Born May 29, 1927, at Raywick, Abell was an Army Veteran of World War II. He worked for American Tobacco Company and Ford Motor Company and was a member of UAW Union and VFW Post 0229. He was preceded in death by: his parents: Walter Enwright and Essie Elizabeth Luckett Abell; four sisters: Hazel Brown, Priscella Stiles, Emma Lloyd Abell and Louise Dowling; and a brother, Junior Abell. Survivors include: a daughter: Pamela Ann Heyna (William J.) of Shepherdsville; one granddaughter: Misty Heil of Mt. Washington; and one great-grandson: Shane Heil. The funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Raywick, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph Hall officiated. Pallbearers were Wally and Wayne Abell, Ricky Dowling and Bradley Easley. Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of arrangements.
