Abel, Zula Grigsby, age 102, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, surrounded by people who loved her. She celebrated her 102nd birthday on March 26, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Jerry Abel, infant daughter Mary Tom Abel, brother Roscoe Grigsby and sister and brother in law Mablean and W.C. Edwards. She is survived by a son James M. Abel of Clearwater, Florida and daughter Grace Nelson and special son in law Charles Nelson of Birmingham, eight grandchildren Marcia Welsch, Gina Hardman, Dr. Mark (Lauri) Phillips, Col. James (Kimiko) Abel Jr., Thomas (Becky) Abel, Linda (John) Coughlin, Wanda (Charlie) Sparks, Dale (Jennie) Abel, sixteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, sister in law Carrie Grigsby of Crosston. She was "Granny" and much loved by her grandchildren and their friends. Special loving caregivers were Marcia, Michelle, and Matthew Welsch and Melanie Welsch Allums. Special thanks to Affinity Home Hospice caregivers Linda, Sandy, and Debra. Services will be on Monday June 18 at 2pm in the chapel with burial in Nectar, AL Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 until 2pm Monday. Services will be conducted by Joan Pinson and Rev. Amy Vaughn.Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
