Son of Mrs. J. E. Twisdale, Rte. 5, Oxford, NC. Crewman aboard the USS Gudgeon (SS-211), an American Navy submarine sank off the coast of Iwo Jima, probably by air attack. His body was not recovered.

Note: Oscar was the son of Isabelle Bennett Abbott Twisdale and her first husband Allen W. Abbott. In 1930 Oscar was living with his parents and siblings in Toltec, Pinal, Arizona. He had an older brother, John, and a younger sister name Audrey. In 1940 they were all living in North Carolina with Isabelle's second husband John Early Twisdale.
