Virginia, Select Marriages, 1785-1940 about Ida Rena Williams
Name: Ida Rena Williams
[Ida Rena Bryant]
Gender: Female
Marital Status: Widowed
Race: White
Age: 24
Birth Date: 1871
Birth Place: Princess Ann Co.
Marriage Date: 17 Jan 1895
Marriage Place: Lynchburg County, Virginia

Mother: Margaret
Spouse: William Brown Butler
FHL Film Number: 32268
Reference ID: pg.177-15

She married George W Abbot who was consideratly younger than her sometime after 1904.

Per 1900 census she reported to be the mother of 2 childee both living, even though 3 Butler boys were in the house being Earl, William and Rawlet.

Per 1910 census she or someone in household reported she was mother of 6 children all living.

Is she the mother of Earl Charles Butler 1892/3?

Update 2/16/2016 - comparing notes with Teresa Austin (great grandaughter) of Ida Abbott Bryant Butler and coming up with further information:

George Abbott (two t's) did not have children when he married Ida. Her name was actually Ida Rene (with an "e"). Ida had placed the three Butler boys in an orphanage in Richmond after William died. She and George then had three girls, one of whom was my grandmother. The Butler boys later lived with Ida at different times even as adults.
The marriage record for William and Ida had some errors - William may have been the informant and may have gotten some details wrong. Ida was born in Southampton County, not Princess Anne County, but she was living with or near her parents in Princess Anne County at the time of the marriage.

Ida's age is wrong on the marriage record - she was actually born in 1868, not 1871.

Ida's father's name was spelled "Eley." Eley was also a POW in the Civil War - maybe that how's William and Ida got connected?

Ida had a twin sister, Ariadne ("Addie"). Addie's grandson Charlie Fletcher was my dentist here in Virginia Beach.
