Bennie Jean Abbott, 81, died June 1, 2009, at her residence in Mineral Wells. Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Rev. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Landreth Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born March 12, 1928, in Mineral Wells, the daughter of Benjamin and Virgie Calhoun Ivey. She was a Pythian Sister, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She worked for Mineral Wells Police Department from 1981-1984, was a dispatcher for the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Office from 1984-1992, was a peace officer from 1992-1993, and was a reserve officer from 1993-1994. She married J.E. Abbott Sr. on Jan. 26, 1954, in Mineral Wells. She is survived by her children and spouses, Samantha and Duane Walton of Mineral Wells, Becky Lou and Mike Lenhardt of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Robbie Clayton and Vickie Abbott of Mineral Wells; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by children, Mary Iverson and Douglas Edward Holloway Jr.; her husband; parents; and sister, Jo Dean Huddleston. Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home
