Ann Ross Abbey Liles, 74, of Albemarle passed away early Tuesday morning, October 22, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, October 24, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Albemarle. Rev. Elizabeth Ayscue will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 in the church parlor. A private family graveside will be held at the Old Liles Cemetery in Lilesville.

Mrs. Liles was born June 15, 1939 in Presbyterian Hospital to the late Simeon Arthur Abbey, Jr. and Elizabeth Ross Abbey.

Ann Ross lived her first few years in Atlanta, GA and then moved to Charlotte to attend Eastover and graduated from Myers Park High School in 1957. She went on to UNC-Greensboro, (Women's College), where she was president of Elliott Hall. She graduated from Queens College in Charlotte in 1961.

She worked with Mr. Kuralt in Social Services for a short time until she met the love of her life, R. V. Liles, Jr., MD. They married May 25, 1963 in Myers Park Methodist Church. After their marriage, they moved to Norwood on Lake Tillery, NC, where Dr. Liles practiced medicine and they raised two children, Gregg Rutledge Liles and Abbey Liles Campbell.

Ann Ross was a devoted wife, mother and volunteer, especially with Girl Scouts and the Medical Auxillary. In the fall of 1976, the family moved to Albemarle, where they still reside. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and teacher of a Circle. She was an avid bridge player.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Ann Myers Abbey.

She is survived by her loving husband, R. V. Liles, Jr., MD of the home; son, Gregg Rutledge Liles and wife, Tammie; daughter, Abbey Liles Campbell and husband, Mike; cherished grand-daughter, Rachel Grace Campbell; special brother, Simeon Arthur Abbey, III and wife, Martha and their children, William Harrington Abbey and wife Amanda, Leigh Abbey Sharpe and husband, Zane and their children, Mallory, Samuel, Luke, Lila and Layne.
