Holland Layne Bellew, 44, was born January 23, 1964 in Kansas City, MO. He definitely walked to the beat of a different drummer and his unique journey ended January 10, 2009 at his home in Independence, MO. At the age of two years old, Holland was touched by the hand of God when a family friend and Pentecostal minister prayed over the dying child after fourteen battles with pneumonia. He maintained good health until 1995. Holland was blind through his youth from cataracts until surgery at sixteen. He attended William Chrisman High School and had worked for seventeen years in waterproofing. He was a talented artist, great with electronics and a motorcycle enthusiast. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the gambling boats. He loved being part of the Whiskey River Gang and entertaining black powder shootout performances at Santacaligon and other special events. Another endeavor Holland enjoyed was his training as an auctioneer. Holland was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Bellew, his brother, Ron White and his loving dog and companion, Tyson. He is survived by; his mother, Sandra Bellew of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Claudia Loun and her husband Larry of Warsaw, MO and Paula Johnson of Independence, MO as well as aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews and other family and friends. Holland had a flair for being different and a gentle soul. He had a soft spot for animals and enjoyed watching the birds and animals in the wild. He has now gone home. At the request of Holland, there will be a private family service.
