Dorothy O. Lankford, 99, of Lubbock, died Sunday, April 21, 2013. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. She was born on Dec. 26, 1913 to John and Willie Olsen in Seymour, Texas. She graduated from Seymour High in 1930 and Texas Tech in 1933. She taught English in the Goree, Chillicothe, and Seymour school systems. She also worked as a stewardess for Braniff Airlines from 1939 to 1942. She later taught English at Slaton Jr. High and Wilson Jr. High in Lubbock. She was married to Clive Lankford for 55 years until his death in 1997. They had two sons, Clive III and John R. Her hobbies were reading, gardening and craftwork. She enjoyed every day and took a genuine interest in everyone she met. She is survived by her son, John R. of Amarillo; her daughter-in-law, Janice of Nowata, Okla.; granddaughter, Anita Scalar; great-grandchildren, Blake and Destiny of Bartlesville, Okla.; and her cat, Matilda. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Lauren Collins, Jason's Bay Group Home in Amarillo, and Odyssey Hospice.
