Peter Anthony Marchiony, born on September 13, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY to Anna & Anthony Marchiony, died on December 20, 2012.
He was a very loving, very devoted husband to Irma for 68 wonderful years. From 1943 to 1945, he was a Veteran of the Army-Air Force during World War II, and served with the 304th Bomb Wing (H) and 459th Bomb Group as an aerial gunner. As a tail gunner on a B-24, Peter flew 50 missions over Italy and was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, European - African - Middle Eastern - Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
After serving in the Army, Peter was employed by Sperry Gyroscope as a Mechanical Engineer in Long Island, New York. He was transferred to Huntsville, Alabama, where he worked on the guidance system for the Space Program, NASA's Skylab and the Saturn V Rocket Booster. He relocated to Clearwater, Florida, where he continued to work on the Sky Lab for NASA and the Space Program for the Space Shuttle with Hercules.
Peter is survived by his wife Irma, four married children, 7 surviving grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
Peter was a terrific person and all that knew him "loved him". He was a master film maker and proudly documented all of his family's important events. He was a legendary cook and a "magician with a box of tools". He loved keeping in touch with his relatives and the most important thing to him his whole life was his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren. He was the family's hero, and we all will miss him.
