Faye Marie, of Nederland, passed away at her residence.
At the age of 14 she met Herbert Luke Jr. and began what would turn out to be a story book romance. During her forty eight years of marriage she and her husband opened their first Burger Chef in Opelousas, Louisiana in 1963 and soon relocated to Beaumont, Texas in 1965 where they continued to operate long time local favorites Burger Chef and Hardees until 1998.
In 1999, Faye began to defy the odds of illness which afforded her a ten year victory of truly getting to know her grandchildren and become part of their lives.
She will be remembered for her compassion, love, faith, wit, and charm, and especially for her ability to make those around her happy. She has been a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland since 1974. She will be remembered by the young adults of Nederland for her many years of participation in school events as chaperone, cheerleader, cook, confidant and advisor.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorina Arton; survivors include her husband, Herbert Luke Jr., her son Kevin Luke and his wife Julie, her son Keith Luke and his wife Wendy, her sisters Peggy Guidry, Bonnie Arton and Cindy Thibodaux, her brother Kenneth Arton and her four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ethan, Mackenzie, and Morgan.
