Donnie Dale Spires, son of Kay and Parthena Smith Spires, was born December 20, 1943, in Vandalia, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, January 24, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, one month, and four days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Greg, Jr.; a brother, Leon Spires; and a sister, Sharon Hendrix.
Donnie is survived by a daughter, Bethany Patten, and her husband, Daniel, of Holts Summit, Missouri; two sons, Timothy Spires, of Springfield, Missouri, and David Spires, of Russellville, Missouri; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Eugene Spires, of Vandalia, Missouri, and Bill Spires, of the State of Kentucky; two sisters, Wanda Hobkirk, of the State of Mississippi, and Maggie Hamlett, of Vandalia, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He graduated from Van Far High School in Vandalia, Missouri, in the Class of 1961.

He served in the United States Army in 1968.

For many years he was employed at Brown Shoe Factory.

Donnie was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
