"J.P. Stuhltrage dies at 78
President of S & L at 21st and Wharton
John P. Stuhltrager, president of the Albert Lawrence Savings & Loan Association, 21st and Wharton sts., died yesterday at his home, 2864 S. 15th st. He was 78. Mr. Stuhltrager organized the savings and loan association in 1912 and headed it from the beginning. He also funded the Roosevelt Bank at 21st and Wharton and was its president from 1937 to 1956, when it merged with the Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Co. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War, a member of Melita Masonic Lodge, University Royal Arch Chapter 256, Corinthian Commandery, Benjamin Franklin Consistory and Lu Lu Temple. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Harry Ramsey, and a brother, Valentine Stuhltrager. Services will be Tuesday at 1 P. M. at Oliver H. Bair's, 1820 Chestnut st. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery."

"STUHLTRAGER – At his home, 2864 S. 15th st., on Dec. 27, 1957, JOHN P., husband of the late Laura D. Stuhltrager and father of Mrs. harry Ramsey, aged 78. Relatives, friends and members of Melita Lodge No. 295, F. and A. M., and all other organizations of which he was a member are invited to the service on Tues., 1 P. M., at Oliver H. Bair's, 1820 Chestnut st. Int. Fernwood Cem. Friends may call Mon. 7 to 9 P. M."
