Miss Florence Seidel, aged 18, of 720 Second avenue, is at present a patient at the Altoona hospital, suffering from burns of the arms and back, sustained Saturday morning, when her clothing ignited from a Reznor gas heater as she was engaged in cleaning the bath room at her home. She was admitted to the hospital at 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Last night her condition was reported as favorable and she was resting easily.
At the time the girl's clothing caught fire her mother was working in the kitchen and knew nothing of her daughter's misfortune until she came running down the stairway to the first floor, her dress ablaze. The flames were beat out by the mother, who used her bare hands, the latter being badly burned during the operation.
It is thought that the flames were communicated to the girl's clothing by a draft of wind which came through an open window in the bathroom. The burned girl is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph J. Seidel, of 720 Second avenue.

Miss Florence Elizabeth Seidel, aged 18, who suffered severe burns of the arms and back on Saturday morning, Feb 14, when her clothing caught fire from a Reznor gas stove, after a week's intense suffering, died at the Altoona hospital at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
Miss Seidel received the fatal burns while engaged in cleaning the bathroom at the Seidel home, 720 Second avenue. It is thought that while stooping over near the stove, the breeze from an open window caused the flames to extend from the heater, communicating with her garments.
The girl made violent efforts to beat out the blaze, but without success and ran down the stairs screaming in agony. Her mother was at work in the kitchen, ignorant of her daughter's plight until the latter dashed to her. With her bare hands Mrs. Seidel succeeded in beating out the blaze, but only after a greater part of the girl's clothing had been burned away and her own hands badly scorched.
The girl was rushed to the Altoona hospital, being admitted at 11 o'clock, and had been at the institution ever since. Her condition was identical with the other recent cases of this nature and for several days she was thought to be improving and with a good chance for recovery.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph J. Seidel, of 720 Second avenue, and several brothers and sisters. She was born on July 18, 1902, and was aged 17 years, 7 months and 4 days. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church and had been educated in the parochial school. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
