Jeffrey Louis Mayon, 66, of Steelton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Jeff was born January 27, 1946 in Harrisburg, son of the late Louis and Helen M. Verbos Mayon. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army and served in the US Army Reserve. He graduated from Steelton-Highspire Class of 1964, and retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot.
Preacher Jeff Mayon pastored Crossroads Independent Church of Etters for ten years. He attended Landmark Baptist Church of Mechanicsburg (Why at the Well). He also was involved in an existing evangelistic/prayer ministry booth at Saturday's Market in Middletown. He also used his spiritual gift of evangelism to preach the gospel and hand out gospel tracts everywhere he went to tell the good news of Jesus Christ.
Jeffrey is survived by his son, Micky L. Mayon of Steelton; a brother, Kenneth W. Mayon of Steelton; a sister, Christine G. Stoklos and her husband, Joseph of Linglestown; a brother, Joel A. Mayon and his wife, Cyndy of Arizona; a sister, Stephanie A. Heilman and her husband, David of Steelton; several nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 12:30 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St., Steelton with Pastor Bob Kauffman officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 11:30 am until the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Landmark Baptist Church, 17 E. Simpson St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

i heard of Jeff,s passing late, i had not talked to him in a couple months, he was a true friend and brother in Christ, we talked often on the phone throught the past years, he was always encouraging me, and id make him laugh telling him about things here...(Read more)
