Maria was born near Lititz, Pennsylvania, October 4, 1789. February 24, 1811, she married John Abraham Ricksecker, the son of Jacob and Elisabeth (Frederick) Ricksecker, born July 22, 1788. In the spring of 1812 she and her husband accompanied her father and two brothers when they removed to Tuscarawas county, Ohio, and settled on a farm about a mile north of the village of Tuscarawas. Ricksecker brought with him from Lancaster county a piano, which, so far as known, was the first one brought to Tuscarawas county. He traded considerably in cattle purchased in Ohio and driven to Eastern markets, as was customary in early times. On one of these trips he was taken sick and died at his former home, in Lititz, October 18, 1821. Maria subsequently married Martin Keller and continued to reside in Tuscarawas county until her death. She lies buried in the graveyard of the United Brethren at Sharon, Ohio, about one mile north of the village of Tuscarawas.
