PROPHETSTOWN - Frances Regina Castelein, 100, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society Prophets Riverview, Prophetstown. She farmed with her husband in the Prophetstown area.

Frances was born March 4, 1911, the daughter of John and Mae Mosher. She was united in marriage to Hilaire Castelein on Jan. 15, 1936. He passed away on July 10, 1988.

Frances was raised and educated in Sterling and Prophetstown schools, and graduated from Prophetstown High School. She later attended St. Frances School of Nursing, Chicago, where she graduated on Aug. 15, 1934. She was a faithful member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Prophetstown.

Surviving are her daughter, Eileen Neims of Geneseo; six sons, Leo (Jan) Castelein of Geneseo, Dr. Paul (Bridgette) Castelein of Princeton, Neil (Sue) Castelein of Prophetstown, Mark Castelein of Rock Falls, Dr. Kent (Nancy) Castelein of Fontana, Wis. and Clair (Jane) Castelein of St. Charles, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Neims.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 46 Grove St. State Route 78 North, Prophetstown.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Wawryczuk, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
