Carolyn Sue (Bronnenberg) Beckerman, 77, Anderson, died Aug. 22, 2007, at Bethany Pointe after an extended illness.
She was born July 22, 1930, in Anderson, and was a lifelong Anderson resident.
She was employed at Delco Remy from 1965 to 1991. She started in production and later became one of the first women in supervision.
She was a 15-year member of South Meridian Church of God, where she sang in the choir. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1948. She volunteered at Community Hospital for 18 years, volunteering more than 12,000 hours. She was past president of Women's Auxiliary at Community Hospital. She served on the Foundation Board of Community Hospital for four years. She was president of Eastern Area of Volunteers Association of Indiana. She was a 35-year member and past president of American Business Women's Association, member and past president of Women of the Church of God and member of Prairie Point Quilter's Club. She was very devoted to her community and to her family.
Survivors include two sons, Steve and Amy Alt of Anderson, William and Michelle Alt of Harrison Township, Mich.; four stepchildren, Larry and Regina Beckerman of Allendale, Ill.; Don and Dorena Beckerman of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Ron and Susie Beckerman of Anderson, and Pat Corbin of Allendale, Ill.; four grandchildren, Allison and Josh Friendly, Kevin and Tracy Alt, Brittany Alt and Adam Alt; one great-grandson, Ethan Alt; 15 stepgrandchildren, Brian Beckerman, Candy and Jim Scott, Sherry Beckerman, Jeannie and Mario Villamill, Tiffany Beckerman, Kelly and John Fisher, Rhonda and Rob Reemer, Jerri and Craig Hughes, Julie and Dave Bednarz, Shane and Cherri Pickel, Shawn and Amber Pickel, Meghann Ross, Kyle Ross, Katy Ross and Jordan Ross; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren, Sarah Beckerman, Scott Beckerman, Dylan Beckerman, Mario Villamill, Brittany Villamill, Katrina Villamill, Brooke and Branden Leisure, Billy Raison, Katie Hughes, Felicia Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Ashley Beckerman, Nathan Bednarz, Austin Pickel, Jacob Pickel, Tyler Pickel and Caleb Pickel and a stepgreat-great-grandson, Johnny Darrell Bowen III; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys (Clevenger) Bronnenberg; her husband, Robert G. Beckerman, who died May 12, 2002; and a sister, JoAnne Etchison.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at South Meridian Church of God with the Rev. Tim Foreman officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
