Eugene C. "Gene" Tremblay, 87, of Hartford, beloved husband for 64 years of Helen (Yotanta) Tremblay, died Monday, (September 10, 2012) at Hartford Hospital.
He was born in Hartford, son of the late Edward and Bertha (LaRoche) Tremblay and was a lifelong resident. Gene worked in food sales as a sales representative for Keebler Biscuit Co. for 25 years, he later was affiliated with Lopez Associates for 13 years and was a member of the Knights of the GRIP.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, 34th Bomber Group (H), 8th Air Force. He was a member of the youngest heavy bomber crew in the Eastern Theater of Operations. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a proud member of VFW Post 254, Hartford. He served as Vice President of The Eastern CT Skeet League, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, a life member of the Rockville Fish and Game Club as well as the Hartford Gun Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Michael A. Tremblay and his partner Karen Overmeyer of Goochland, VA, three daughters, Eileen A. Ciccone and her husband Dr. Eugene Ciccone of Middletown, Jean Marie Pomeroy and her husband Fred of Granby and Donna Crane and her husband Douglas of East Haddam; four grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica, Donald, and Valerie; a nephew Charles Balnius, a niece Patricia Kopcsak; a cousin Nancy LaRoche; extended family members, Dr. Stephen and Heidi Lupini and their daughters Casey and Taylor, along with many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Tremblay. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The funeral will be Thursday, September 13, 2012, 9:15 a.m. from The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capitol Ave. Hartford. Burial with military honors will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Broadbrook.
