Etta was the daughter of Noah C. and Virginia Lybrand Clement. She was born and raised in Grant Co.. After Ernest's death she moved to La Grange, Ill to be with her daughter Lorene and she died at her home.

Etta was married to Ernest Laurens Blackerby. They had two daughters, Ernestine Blackerby Clement and Lorene Blackerby Ray and an infant son who died in 1923.
