Anna B. Bortner, of New Oxford, entered into God's Heavenly Kingdom July 22.
She was the daughter of the late Aaron S. and Lydia Busser Baugher.
Mrs. Bortner was a life-long member of the Black Rock Church of the Brethren, in Glenville, and a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association, and the local and national AARP. She was a graduate of Codorus Township High School, and received her teaching credentials from Elizabethtown College. Mrs. Bortner retired in 1970, after teaching for 21 years at West Manheim Elementary, in the South Western Public School District. Prior to teaching at West Manheim, she taught for 16 years at Hoffacker's one room school house, and for three years at various one room school houses in Southern York County.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Preston M. Bortner, who departed this life in 1973, and is survived by one son, Galen E. Bortner of Spring Grove; two daughters, Gloria A. Myers of York, and Rose M. Rill of Hanover; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, J. I. Baugher, Edward Baugher, A. C. Baugher, John Baugher, Aaron Baugher, Raymond Baugher, and Stanley Baugher, and five sisters, Minnie Friddinger, Lettie Hoover, Mary Ault, Ella King, and Lovie Runkle.
