| Birth: | Jul. 26, 1871 | | Death: | Sep. 17, 1921 | Owner of the first proprietary drugstore in St. Louis, Missouri. During a trip to Italy, he met a voluptuous model and proposed to her. She turned him down. Broken hearted, he commissioned a sculptor to carve a 12-foot marble statue of her which he placed in the foyer of his home. It was moved because of its weight and placed in the family burial plot where it now stands.
