Actor, Social Reformer. A member of the Oglala Sioux, he rose to prominence as an advocate and activist for Native American rights in the United States, chiefly with his association with the American Indian Movement (AIM), which he joined in 1968. He began acting in 1992, appearing in the motion pictures "The Last Mohican" (1992) and Natural Born Killers (1994), in the television movies "The Pathfinder" (1996) and "Buffalo Girls" (1995), and as the voice of 'Chief Powhatan' in the Disney animated movies "Pocahontas" (1995) and "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" (1998).
