Inventor. While working to create better gunsights on weapons during World War II, Coover discovered cyanoacrylates, which are powerful adhesives. He invented Eastman 910, commonly known as super glue. Coover worked as a chemist at Eastman Kodak from 1944 to 1973, and then served as the company's vice president until 1984. His super glue was used to treat soldiers injured while fighting the Vietnam War.
