Diarist, Schoolteacher, Innkeeper. In 1702 she traveled round trip on horseback from Boston to New York. She chronicled her five-month adventure in a diary that was discovered and published in 1825 as "Private Journal of a Journey from Boston to New York in the Year 1704." It is still read for authentic information on colonial times and customs. Daughter of Thomas Kemble, wife of Richard Knight with whom she had one daughter, Elizabeth.
