Jazz Musician. He began playing the drums at age 13 and became a first-rate drummer who played alongside renowned jazz artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Terry Gibbs, Stan Getz and Art Pepper. From ages 15 to 18, he gained knowledge of drumming techniques and styles by commuting from his home in Lake Arrowhead, California to attend rehearsals and jam sessions in Los Angeles, California. He studied under Philly Jo Jones but was also influenced by Max Roach, Gene Krupa and Shelly Manne. Frommer began his career by playing with Shorty Rogers’ band The Giants in local clubs in 1954. He had a short stint on the television show “Stars of Jazz” in 1961 and afterward he became a freelance musician mostly performing in Nevada, California, Hawaii and Alaska. (bio by: SCG)
