US Congressman. Representative from Tennessee for two terms, serving from 1835 to 1839. Member of Tennessee state house of representatives in 1831, 1832, 1843 and 1844. Member of Tennessee state senate in 1845 and 1846. He was a newspaper editor in Nashville prior to his political career, and practiced law until his death.
