| Birth: | Jan. 24, 1905 Germantown Philadelphia County Pennsylvania, USA | | Death: | Aug. 4, 1995 Houston Harris County Texas, USA | Buisness Tycoon. Born James Howard Marshall, he is best remembered for his 1994 marriage to Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith. He was 89 and wheelchair-bound, she was 26. At the time of his death he left no provision for Smith in his will, and his estate became the center of a nasty, highly-publicized legal battle between Smith and his son E. Pierce Marshall. He was a Yale Law School grauate, but became interested in the oil industry after studying laws designed to regulate the practice of controlled production of oil and gas fields. He was recruited to work for the Secretary of Interior in Washington. Marshall co-founded Great Northern Oil in 1952, later to become Koch Refining, and he founded Marshall Petroleum in 1984, a move that made him a successful independent oil man.
