Anthony James Morabito
Birth: Jan. 12, 1910
Death: Oct. 27, 1957

Sports Magnate. He, along with his brother Victor, owned the NFL's San Francisco 49ers from the team's start in All-American Football Conference in 1946 to his untimely passing during a 49er-Bears game at San Francisco's Kezar Stadium. He started out in the lumber industry and in 1940s became the major force in bringing pro football to the San Francisco area. He was well respected by his fellow owners, coaches, and players. He treated his players and other employees like family. During his leadership, the 49ers were considered the most solid franchise in the NFL. He was watching them play the Chicago Bears at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco when he was fatally stricken with a heart attack. (bio by: Mr. Badger Hawkeye)
