Clifford Peter Hansen
Birth: Oct. 16, 1912
Teton County
Wyoming, USA
Death: Oct. 20, 2009

Governor of Wyoming, US Senator. A member of the Republican Party, he served as Governor of Wyoming from 1963 to 1967 and then as a US Senator from the state for two terms, from 1967 until his resignation in 1978. Hansen graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1934 and became a prominent cattle rancher while also serving in several local government positions. In 1980, newly-elected President Ronald Reagan offered him the post of Interior Secretary, but he declined to avoid possible conflict-of-interest issues with his cattle business. At the time of his death at 97, Hansen was the oldest living former US Senator. (bio by: Mr. Badger Hawkeye)
