Erastus Hussey
Birth: Dec. 5, 1800
Death: Jan. 21, 1889

Eratus helped more than one thousand familes as a conductor of the Underground Railroad. In 1849, he was elected to Michigan House of Represenatives. That same year he was elected to the Michigan Senate. In 1856, he listened to his new friend from Springfield, Illinois, Congressman Abraham Lincolin, at the Republican Convention in Kalamazoo Michigan. He helped draft the Personal Liberty Bill, which countered the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act. He was also a Mayor of Battle Creek. (bio by: Graveaddiction)
