Musician, musicologist, etnologist and composer. She wrote more than 25 books about Latin American folklore and composed ten works for orchestra. Artez moved to Venezuela in 1947 and lived there until the mid 1990s. She was among the few composers that worked at the first electronic music studio in Venezuela, founded during the 1960s.
