Edward Taylor
Birth: Jan. 29, 1923

Bolivar County
Mississippi, USA
Death: Dec. 25, 1985
Chicago
Cook County

Renowned Blues musician. Edward Taylor grew up in Mississippi and watched Charlie Patton and Robert Johnson play in juke joints when he was a small boy. Eddie came to Chicago in 1949 and hooked up with childhood friend Jimmy Reed in 1953. Two years later, he started making records under his own name, including the classics "Bad Boy", "Ride 'Em On Down", and "Big Town Playboy". He went on to record with John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, John Brim, and Snooky Pryor. By the late 1950's, Taylor was in demand as a session player and remained so for the rest of his career. Taylor started recording on his own again in 1972 and kept touring and recording up until his death in 1985. He was elected to the Blues Foundation's Hall of Fame in 1987. (bio by: Daniel L.
