Songwriter. Wilkins, with co writer, Danny Dill, wrote 'The Long Black Veil'. She was founder of a non profit group that advocates for songwirters, Nashville Songwriters Association, and Wilkins is credited for discovering singer Kris Kristofferson. Wilkins and Kristofferson wrote 'One Day at a Time'. She was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975, and she published her autobiography, 'Lord Let Me Leave a Song' in 1978. (bio by: GW)
